Socal
I have a 99 S70 non-turbo (N/A?) There is a small area on my car were the clear coat is starting to crack. Its about 1 in. square, right on the hood . Is there good way to treat it to keep it from continuing to crack?

Socal
Thank you for the welcome. It is exciting to come across a forum with all these volvo fans. Anyway, the car is dark blue (its the same dark blue that a lot of S70 SEs are). Being located in southern California, I'm a little concerned that heat and sun are going to cause the problem to get worse.

Would be slightly $$, but the it's money well spent, when it comes to paint.
Socal
What do you think the cost on something like that would be?

Guest Guest
That would be more than I have to spend on this at the moment, but may be a consideration down the line. Are there any less expensive alternatives that peopel have tried?

Mesoam
wet sand it carefully...you will have to find out where the clear coat has stopped pealing...pealing comes from poor paint maintaince (usually)
Socal
Wouldn't wet sanding it remove the clear coat in the area? (even with a 1500 or 2000 grit paper?) Mesoam, you're right about the poor paint care. Though the blame belongs to the birds on this one. I was traveling for a couple of weeks, and I didn't have a garage to park in while I was gone. I came back and there were 2 large bird s***s that cooked on to the hood.
