Painted The Car,

SIAMBLUE

Recommended Posts

I have been really busy the last week getting the car prepped inbetween showers, It has been a real nightmare dodging the bad weather,

Anyway i decided to tackle the job of painting the bonnet rear bumper nearside top wing and wing mirrors,

I also fitted some new additions to the car, I am not sure about them but they might grow on me,

Briefly my car was Saffron which i liked lol, As this was the filler Primer that i used, excellent stuff for filling all the pins holes and small swirls,

Tomorrow i will be out rubbing the paint down and mopping it over,

Sorry i meant hood lol, Lucky i didn't say "Boot"

I had 2 choices with the final coat, Either i leave it untill September then go up and see Tomcat VT5 forum member in the UK as he has all of the equipment or just say go for it and use 400 ml cans which i got made up with a exact match for the car, I had nothing to lose if it look rubbish then i had the TC option lol,

The amount of people asking me do i spray it as a business! Yeah right i always spray on the street lol,

The prepping really got to me, It is so time consuming, But i got there in the end,

The Brows were the biggest PITA, As you cannot get them for the S70's in the UK,

So i bought a set for a S40 and modified them by cutting and filling the gaps with Chemical metal and primer,Took hours to get them right,

All in all, The total was about £35 (us$65) for paint and other bits,

How much would that be from a Body shop? £200 maybe in the UK?

Gary

PS I am going to do my fr bumper next and my side skirts as they are a bit naffed up, But that will be in September when i am back home.

But tomorrow i am going to paint the Headlamp wiper arms and the rubber rim to my front Grille to make it look smaller.

I have to thank Kevin for all of his sound advice, Thanks for answering all of my questions about the Brows,

They look good on the S70's with Jewels, But the 850's i am not sure they look that good,

I got my priorities all wrong today, Couldn't afford to go to the Seaside T5 meet here in the UK as i am on my Hols next weekend,

Was far too lazy to cut the new paintwork back :slap:

So i primered the Headlamp wipers and the outside edge of the grill,I have had to photoshop it to get it to resemble what the finished grille will look like so please accept my first photoshop apologies,

As you can see the normal grill was quite large, And i think it looks a whole lot better now the black edge has gone and narrowed the look of the grille,

What's your opinions?

With old grille in place for comparison,

Grille painted in primer and photoshopped with primered headlamp wipers,

Hey guys have a great Independence day,

Everything turned out ok on the car while i was painting, Not great conditions with a tin of spray paint with windy conditions, But i am impatient lol,

Been thinking about the Wiper arms, So today i decided to take them off, I will probably fill the holes and sell the wiper arms and motors at some stage,

I fitted the grille as the Photoshop job i did didn't really give a true view of the car, So i fitted the grille it is only in its primer stage and so is not colour coded yet,

That's it now no more touching the car untill September when i get back home i think lol,

PS I know before any says the Bonnet needs cutting back.
