Socal
Its about time to replace my front rotors and pads, along with the back pads (according to the rep at the volvo dealership I last took my car too). I'm hoping to save a some money, and maybe upgrade a little over stock by buying the parts myself and having em put on somewhere other than the dealership. I hope one of you good people can tell me where it is cheapest to by pads and rotors online, and (if your from around here) if there is any shop that you would recommend having them put on at. I'd try doing it myself, but I'm lacking some of the tools (torque wrench, jack ect.)One other little question, are crossdrilled a nice upgrade from stock (and worth the extra cost)? And if so, would brembo or zimmerman's be better? Anyway, just looking for some recommendations.
Jaxx
I have powerslots, they are nice. I wouldn't go drilled, they compromise the integrity of the rotor.
Tooboxy
I have crossdrilled in the rear and they are loud as hell!

turboV70
I have cross drill rotors and carbon fiber pads from est and i love em. give them a try, you won't regret it.
Jeph430
I'm looking for new stuff as well. I like the Powerslots, but they'ye kinda pricy. Also, I am searching for a low dust pad.
Jaxx
well, drilled rotors are really made for track days, and then swap them out for regular driving, since the drilling compromisies the construction of the rotor, many have cracked, you might like brembo drilled, but even that I'd say is pushing it. Socal
Seems like I would be better off sticking with OEM brembos considering that I only use the car for commuting. If anyone has any recommendations where to get them, I interested in hearing them. Mesoam
i've "heard" alot about drilled rotors cracking...i've had mine for two years and no signs of cracking at all and i've been tough on them time to time.the fronts are def worn but i think 2 years is plenty of wear time on a brake system like ours (highly front oriented)the whirling sound is not loud at all, i've actually come to enjoy it :)
Serge
www.eeuroparts.com has the cheapest Brembo non-drilled front brakes for the 850. I got a pair shipped for $70. I also picked up Mintex pads from FCP for $40 shipped. Mintex pads aren't too bad actually... less dust thus far.
Socal
Thanks for the heads up Liquid. Nice prices + free shipping :thumbsup:I'm pretty gentle on my brakes (don't tailgate, or do much stop and go traffic), and I' certainly not driving on the track. Those EST crossdrilled seem quite nice, but are pricy. I've read a lot of complaints about the PBR metalmaster pads, so I'm certainly not going there.Mesoam what kind of crossdrilled rotors are you using? EMDII
I have Zimmermann x-drilled rotors, and EBC Green pads. VERY linear, no fade in heavy civilian driving, and no cracking of rotors after 1 year. That time includes some smoking passes (for a brick) through the Tail of the dragon at Deal's Gap. Jaxx
like I said, I would trust brembos, but race cars only use drilled because they are good at what they do, but they crack if you do it everyday, but they change them out every weekend.
