AnthonyR
I had that once on my 9815. Hit the reset and hasn't happened before or since. Mine the buttons would work but with like literally a 2 minute delay.

Bing_0
oh the dreaded alpine software crash cant say i didnt warn people about alpine being glitchy more htan half the alpine units, espeically the in dash flipouts, have had one sort of glitch or another. like anthony said, press the little reset button, on the 900 it should be on the face plate, or right behind the face plate when you take it off...it should fix it, though it may return later, whcih obvisouly gets annoying cuase everytime you reset it, you loose all your presets...b
Bing_0
the only case i knew, that invoved wiring problems and the alpine screwing up, is that if the optical cable between the display and the brain is pinched, it may cuaes it to do funky things like not coming on, or not responding...but more usual than not, its a software glitchb

steve s
by the way, is this something i should be really worried about? my warranty runs out in a few months (these things have 1 year warranties right?)
Bing_0
rest it and if it starts happening all the time, then i would take it to get it serviced, but if it happnes like once in a few months, (like some of hte units have experienced), then its your call b
steve s
ok... i've reset the unit.. a few times.. but it still cuts out.. is it the optics cord? it's getting worse and worse. sometimes, the unit won't even turn on when i start the car.. Bing_0
steve that sounds like a failed optical cord. check to see if it was bent around a sharp object or crushed by something that over time cuased it to fail...they give sucha short extension on those...b
