Please open your phone book to the automotive section and look for your nearest Volvo dealer or Volvo Indy Tech and make an appointment. You can not access HVAC, TRACS, SRS, Tranny etc codes with the hand held scanner

As long as your fan(A/C, Heater)works you will be ok. It's almost likely your cabin temp sensor is either clogged or otherwise faulty. You could replace it but would need to erase the code anyways. Take it to the dealer and see what they say. Good luck.

Or bad electrical part of the ignition switch

I probably have a bad temp sensor in my car. I do get the blinking every once in a while, but it isn't every time. Recently I have had a hard time keeping the tempature in the car steady.

"If a fault occurs (indicated by flashing of the "REC" and "AC OFF" warning lights onthe control panel, the on=board diagnostics can be used to initiallypinpoint any problem areas without the use of special test equipment. Once this has been done, further tests may be necessary to determine the exact nature of the fault; whether a component itself has failed, or whether it is a wiring or other inter-related problem"

Short version: need a scan tool. There are over 40 codes, and the dealer can most likely do it quickly. Then you can chose what repair, if any, to pursue. There are four t-sensors inside: driver's, driver's duct, passenger's, and passenger's duct (if you have the ECU automatic climate control).

you could also have a slow damper that cycles and clears the fault code.

Moral of the story: only a scan will tell, and it has to be done right.

  • 2 weeks later...

Went to the dealer today and found out what all the hoop-la was about. Got it scanned (free haha) and these are the results...

Code: ECC 414-Cabin temperature fan faulty. P/N: 3524841 $75.34 at myswedishparts

Code: ECC 433-Blower motor possibly faulty.

Service lady told me that it was probably the temp sensor. But my A/C works fine so I'm not too worried.

Hope this clears this up.
