kenk
Well ive been dreaming and wanting a 740 turbo for a LONG time. Found my ideal car, tan inside sunroof, 4 sp + OD, OD works. Fabric interrior. Car has 270k - how long will the engine last? - What usually dies (im talking engine internals), and how bad cost wise is a rebuild? I guess im wondering do they just get old and burn oil, or do they throw rods etc. I see a lot of guys over at turbobricks who have replaced their engines, im not looking to win any races, just a fun car. Car has been maintained very well, the owner suffers from the same disease as me, "I love my volvo syndrome". Hehe. can the b230 really last for 300+k? Should i drop the boost a bit? If all goes well with the purchase, i may drive it up to the canadian volvo club meet.
MrWinkey
338k+ and still going strong...I have worked on a few 2 series with over 400K...the motor will last as long as you keep your boost in line and maintain it
turbokalle
as long as you takecare of the engine you will have no prob. Dont run the engine hard and turn it off, let it idle for a minute or so. Just so the oil doesnt burn in the turbo, then it will start to leak and the turbo can break down. I think the B23 is one of the best engines volvo have done
