bill d cat
After "only" 161,000 miles, my seat bottom foam has given it's all. Has anyone done this procedure on one of the FWD Volvos? I know that the replacement procedure for the RWD Volvos has been posted elsewhere, but the seat structure seems to be a little different in the FWD cars. Does anyone have any helpful hints? The barbeque-grill support thingey is molded into the foam on the FWDs, rather than a separate part as in the RWDs.Anyway, price-wise the butt foam and heater are not much worse from Volvo for the 850-70s than prices for the foam and heater for the 240 are from IPD. I considered and located used seats with the correct upholstery, but I have a turbo with velour power seats! So I'd have to break down the used manual velour seat to salvage the parts, and I'd still have no guarantee that the PO's butt was any smaller or lighter than mine. My indy Volvo shop sez they can do it for one hour's labor but they're 20 minutes away. I thought I might be able to save some time and a few bucks by doing it myself.
