note:

pliers and shears are nice tools to have because you REALLY have to hack up the radio, especially if you want the screen cables to have good clearance

another updated pic with electrical tape surrounding the screen:

UPDATE:

i installed the screen today. i underestimated the double din and it took a bit of sanding and coaxing to get the screen all the way in. Haven't done the bezel yet because i wanted the screen installed right away. I'm using RoadRunner for my app. Touchscreen kicks arse

enjoy

Looking good man. I was going to do the exact same thing but instead of having the LCD stick out have it recessed back a bit into the cage (lilliput 7" touch screen would fit like that). Alas, I have no money to do such a project at the moment (I would build a mini-ITX machine in the trunk as well, those cost $$).

nice skin!

if it works with RoadRunner i'll try it out

and the screen is as far in as it can go with the stock cage

i'd put it in further, but there is no room

i'm happy with it so far

at night, you can't notice the blemishes

and it's so tight it's nearly impossible to remove
