Kent
Can anyone help pin point this issue: 96 855T with 178,000, recently at 176,000 miles had a major tune up with new spark plugs, wires, rotor, dist cap, air and fuel filter, fuel pump, checked timing, was running great.Last week, purchased a fuel additive to help clean injectors and carb. Added to an empty tank and filled with 15 gallons of gas, drove 2 miles home.Next morning, started car to recharge a/c. Finished by adding 12 oz.A/C worked great. Went to drive car with a/c off or on car would stall or very rough idle between 800-1500. Assumed the fuel additive loosened up something or bad fuel. While accelerating it would start to sputter and have no power. Went through a couple of "limp home modes". Topped off fuel with higher octane. Still had sputtering and rough idle issues on occasion for several days at idle or while accelerating no power. After reading info, it sounded like the air mass meter was going bad. Disconnected amm, seem to improvebut did not eliminate problem.Held off replacing amm, after reading a similiar problem that was fixed by replacing a leaking vaccum line. Cannot locate any leaks.Have not checked: ignition coil, oxygen senor, idle motor, knock sensor.Main problem (with or without the amm connected) is during cold start, the engine will die 2-4 times while backing out of garage, seems to be ok once it warms up. Cold and warm engine seems to vary its idle rpm from 900-1500.Have not pulled any codes as of yet. Any ideas? Thank you.
Noahkk19
Wrong forum...Are you saying you haven't checked your codes yet? If it's possible for you to do so without being charged then I would do that then get back to us with the codes...That'd make everything a whole lot easier
