ROB @ VMS
Well after alot of testing it seems that i would like to choose a different turbo setup. The 3071R is a awsome turbo but not in a .82AR turbine side. Spool time and the torque curve is very high up in the range where its good but mid end sufferes as well and esp down low torque which is what gets you moving. I am going with this turbo in a .63 AR turbine housing. -Wheel: 60mm w/ 84 trim on the turbine. Compressor -Wheel: 82mm w/ 56 trim -Housing: .70 ar . ROB @ VMS
There AR is the same on the compressor, but the internals are way bigger than the turbo you are using. The 3040R is 600hp flow rated. I was gona test the turbo terry had sitting around ( what u are now using) But its flow is only rated for around 450hp same as my GT3071R. Other than that its a great turbo and im sure you will make plenty of power with it. THe GT 40R compressor should make for some high flow and the GT30R turbine with a .63AR should make for good spool.
zazzn
Hey Rob, Nice turbo, I really don't think you are going to see 600 on that turbo.. unless you doing 40 PSI. But thats a sweet turbo.. what external gate you putting on it? is there space to fit a .70 compressor ar on the back side of the engine? It looked pretty tight when i looked back there my self.by the way where did you get that they put flanges or taps on everything including the oil / water feeds on the center section! thats very nice and easy to mke work when they do that. ROB @ VMS
Yup i might wait awhile before putting it on. Right now i have a .63AR turbine housing being sent to me from atp. I am going to take the .82Ar off my GT3071R and put the .63AR on it. Spool up should be 800rpm or so sooner with alot better of a low-mid end torque band. I guess im just having to test things out which i dont mind doing as long as i make forward progress. I will keep everyone informed of how it goes and i will post a dyno chart once its done.
