turbobrick
Wifi would also be VERY useful in interfacing between your hard drives onboard and hard drives in your house.. for music swapping etc etc.its always been in the back of my mind but i dont really want to spend the cash... i do like the idea of gettinga new album and through the greatness of WOL being able to boot the carpc from inside the house, upload the albums then shut her off ;)
Serge
Indeed. I can park in the garage, connect to my wifi and copy over music and movies from my machine upstairs. However, for faster transfers I have a 100mbit network drop in the garage... hehe.
larryo108
I use my Sprint phone's web connection on my laptop while someone else is driving and as long as there is a phone signal I have an Internet connection.←So you don't have a connection very often huh? Sprint sucks in Atlanta.
Serge
So you don't have a connection very often huh? Sprint sucks in Atlanta.←Sprint is the best provider in the Bay Area in terms of service. I had my laptop playing an MP3 stream while I was driving around for an hour. No disconnects or loss in service. Not to mention I get free data access with no limit... 250kbits throughput (minus latency).
staggrlee
Wifi would also be VERY useful in interfacing between your hard drives onboard and hard drives in your house.. for music swapping etc etc.Yeah WiFi's great and all, and I have it installed, but it's still faster to bring my media drive in to sync on FireWire. Do you think if I put a 20db Yagi antenna on the roof on a power antenna mount and drove around, that I would attrack attention? WiMax cellular broadband in '06, but h/w and service is going to be spendy at first. $80/mo. At the rate I would use it? Have to figure how that's going to be indespensable to my job.
