RWagin
I'm looking to get a decent laptop to use at home with a wireless connection b/g/etc...I was thinking IBM but was curious what others are using/enjoying. I mainly surf the internet, store pics from the digital camera and use MS office. I will likely start to use iTunes or something similar as well so a CD Burner is necessary (and on all laptops anyhow) Thanks. As for price I'd prefer to spend under $2KFOrgot to add I'd like to have it come with XP Professional (may be networked at some point)

WhiteT5
I'm using a Toshiba that my work gave me. 2.0 GHz P4 w/ 512 MB RAM, DVD-RW drive, 512 MB RAM, 60 GB HDD, Wireless card, lots of other goodies. Works quite well for what I use it for. Extremely quiet too, which is good 'cause I like to use it in class and the professors always oh yeah! at the people w/ noisy laptops. StickThatClutch
I'm a fan of HP laptops for general use. Dell ones are just down right ergonomic disasters for me - kinda ugly too boot.If I were going to get one today I'd just build mine out of an ASUS shell.Meh, Lenovo. :(
C70drvr
I forgot to add that I would like windows XP Professional.←I would recomend Toshiba. I've owned 2 of these, 1 IBM, 1 NEC and 1 DELL. As far as Windows powered notebooks go, I found that the Toshibas were the best. But then again, the best notebook I've ever owned is my Apple Powerbook, followed by my iBook, then the Toshiba. maiku
I second toshibai have two laptops, both toshiba's, and i've had nothing bad about them.the number one thing i find is hard drive space.calculate how much space you'll THINK you'll need, then double it, and that's how much you should get.my 30 gig wasn't enough, so i bought a 60. even now, i'm running out of space. and lots and lots of ramjust so you can say, i have XXX ram
