Small Subs For 850

I'm considering perhaps replacing the rear two speakers behind the headrests with small subs similar to how the S60/S80 does it (they have very nice clean bass). I don't want to kill trunk space or add a lot of weight, nor do I need two 12" subs in a bandpass box for thumping pass.

i too was considering this but likt Stylzz said it would be a royal PITA. Plus like bing has said it would require alot more bracing to prevent rattles. I think and angled box that sits right up against the seat would be a good setup, could maybe even integrate the amp into the box

Kenwood actually makes a 2way speaker with a 93db sensitivity which isn't super loud but still produce sounds from 25-70000...which I don't think neither one of us could appreciate

i would like to see charts of that sub producing 25hz at less than -3db, the print on the boxes mean nothing, they dont give a tolerance, and if they do, they are suaully well off,

kicker also made 6x9 "subs" but if someone can show me a 6x9" speaker right now on themarket that can produce within a 3db tolerance down to say even 40hz in a free air configuration, i would be extremely impressed...sure most 6x9s can produce some sound at 40 30 or even 20hz, but its drops down so far you are not hearing the full spectrum of sound that your music may have in it...and to me, thats not good enough :)

If your really into car stereos or like making stuff you can always screw around with fiberglass and use the existing speaker holders and make enclosures for 6 inch or 8 inch JL W0s. If you dont want to do that..(which i dont blame you) your best bet is to prob get a decent 10" sub in a small box and plant it on the side of your trunk somewhere.

I am very much into making stuff myself. But I have two things holding me back: time and money.

I would actually create two custom enclosures out of plywood and carpet them up to make it nice and clean. But alas, no time nor money.
