my 97 GLT has no performance upgrades whatsoever....its gonna have a boost gauge in it soon, and i'll go from there to other modifications.

i just saw that dawes devices had a manual boost control valve and its soo cheap (to buy). will my little wimpy turbo get any performance out f this?

is it hard to put in?

Not the best mod to do, but that's one of the first things I did to my car. After a couple of months of just using the MBC I went a ahead and had the ECU reflashed. Stock boost is 6-7 psi and just make sure to not go over 9.5 and you should be fine.

KUDOS!!!! for buying a boost gauge first!!!!!

the mbc wont be that bad of a mod as long as u dont go crazy w/ it....i use it to control spikes and let the ECU do its thang

im sorry, i'll run a search.

but i would like to make the car a bit faster and have it be just reliable.

i was thinking of a ECU upgrade and an exhaust first...

like i said, im going ot run a search, but i dont know the order to go about the modification stuff . i would hate to buy somthing now to end up removing later on because of non compatibipity.

You can make it your self, as someone said for nothing but if you do buy it, it's not a bad valve.

I think you can run 14 PSI no problem. Basically, as I've been saying on the board the whole time you can run as much boost on the stock turbo that you want until you hit fuel cut.

Make sure you have good fuel....

If you want to be safe go to the dyno and hook up a wideband BEFORE the cat.

He has the 97 GLT, this is a low pressure turbo model with higher compression ratio, wider bore (And thinner cylinder walls), and a 13G turbo... At 14 psi on stock fuel, it certainly would not last long at all, if it even lived to tell about it.

I don't know where their boost cut is... It might be 10 psi, but he definitely does not want to go high in boost level.

Well I know my car can hit 14psi... fuelcut I do believe is probably 15 psi liek the normal models...

But just because it can hit it doesnt mean it should on stock fueling.

listen to ericf.

Think about, that statement, This poster doesn't even know how to use the device why do you think he would be able to make it.

Either stop posting this kind of nonsense, or explain why a stock ECU program with a LPT set up could handle the increased pressure. (with no damage to the car)

its not worth the potential dammage IMO...

i've only heard of one person hitting something that remotely sounds like fuel cut and he was riding in a c70 (99 If I recall Correctly) from what we've seen you can crank that thing up and grenade your motor before you hit fuel cut
