jl2
I'm getting ready to change the front pads again on my 03 S80 non-turbo. They've got about 15k on them now, and I've probably got another 4 or 5k left. I chose the Mintex because of their "low dust" characteristic. Hah! The dust problem was solved when I put Kleen Wheels on the wheels. Any suggestions re: truly low dust pads that last a bit longer? I am more concerned with longevity and performance (hopefully not mutually exclusive). Also, do I need to replace rotors at each brake change (I did the last time)? Thanks. Bay13
The only way you know if the rotors need replacing is to measure them, on your car 25.8mm is the min reading when replacing pads. For the most part with Volvo pads you can get two sets of pads to one rotor, but I don't know about the after market pads if they would wear down the rotor quicker or not. Bay13
I'm not a good source for aftermarket, I work at a dealer and all we use is OEM. Right now thats all I'm running on my car.
merlin390
I'm with Rich I only run OEM pads. I dont like the fact aftermarker pads have to meet the same government safety standards
gdizzle
Mintex is a good pad, I'm running mintex red boxes in the rear of my R. If you want a long lasting low dust pad, try a ceramic. IMO ceramics are a double edged sword, you get long life w/ low dust but you get less life and more wear on the rotors.

BtownVolvo
OEM. Squeak only when breaking, even at minimal breaking levels!
Bay13
Help me out here, Volvo OEM brakes and rotors installed correctly don't squeek, so if yours are something is wrong, and not with the product.

Bay13
If the squeeking is repeatable then I'd take them back to the dealer and have the issue resolved. There is a reason something that isn't suppose to happen, happens if you know what I'm trying to say. One of the reasons I push OEM equipment so much is that I know what and how those parts act on the car, if you start adding other brands makes etc, I have no idea how they will act on the car. Not just brakes.
