Funky Smell After Peel N Seal

Yep.  I helped it out by leaving the moonroof and windows open overnight while the car was in the garage.  Helped a lot.

Slater: What anti squeak tape did you use? Also where'd you acquire it?

Velcro. 30 ft roll from Home Depot for $18. I used the soft nappy side, and just chucked the rough prickly side.

The OEM anti squeak tape is like $5 for a 6" piece or some BS like that. Velcro is black, sticks like a mofo, readily available, and works great.

Others have used cloth electrical tape with success, but I was never able to find any. The advantage with the Velcro is that since it's a little thicker because of the nappyness, it actually makes the panels and dash and everything fit much tighter.

Righ on man! That's what I thought of using. It's basically the same thing as the Volvo one.

Man, I went to the dealer to get "two orders" of the anti-squeak tape thinking I'd get 2 nice little rolls. I got two freakin slivers of anti-squeak tape. SUCH a rip off it's not even funny.

I used cloth wiring harness tape last time I worked on my dash, but it is way too thin. It's good for things where you don't have much clearence. Plus, the tape is excellent for wrapping... wire harnesses :)

Heck yeah. I got the Velcro after I read someone's post a while ago about the ripoff OEM tape.

Anyways, be aware that if you use the crap out of it like I have done, you'll use 3-4 boxes of Velcro @ $20 each. But the results are well worth it as there are zero squeaks in my car now except the center console behind the shifter. I haven't figured out how I'm gonna fix that one yet.

I basically put the Velcro wherever any interior panel touches the body. Around the outer edges of the 4 door panels, rear hatch panel, all of the interior panels in the rear hatch including the rear pillars with the tweeters in them, etc.

I think I was the one who made that thread ;)

I found people selling stick on velcro on eBay for cheap. Only the nappy side too, so I don't have to store a bunch of parts I don't need.

Really? Post a link man.

As far as storing parts I don't need, the rough side hit the garbage. I have no use for it. Wait! I could have sold it on ebay to all of the people buying the nappy side only! I had the missing link they all needed!

Darn!
