AS a result of my recent accident

My Totalled 850R Wagon

I am looking for a replacement.  A newer V70 T5 comes to mind.

Looking for some general opinions on a 2001 or newer model.

What turbo is standard?

Chippable?

Performance relative to the standard 850R?

Any comments welcome.

get the newest model V70 T5 you can afford. :)

or...

why not look at the 98 or 00? ETS problems aside, good cars with plenty of aftermarket-ability.

My buddy Allan had a 2001 V70 T5 manual. It was an ex-iPD car, it had TME ECU, 3'' down pipe, Catback and K&N. That car freaking hauled jerk! Very fast. Dyno'ed like 240 to the wheels and around 300 ft/lbs with those mods alone.

Like Kevin mentioned, the 98-00 V70's had plenty of aftermarket, but what you can get for a 98-00' you can also get for an 01+.

Of course I want a manual.  And i found ONE in Kentucky, it's black.

But since the car will be Jessica's I would settle for an Auto.  These are more plentiful.  I have already found a few within two hours's drive.

Mine is unmodified, strong torque kicks in at around 2400 RPM but the auto transmission shift points are at or before this. Car can feel a little sluggish in auto mode. I think T5s auto are all geartronic so if you can adapt to manual shift, it is much sportier. The downside of manual shift on geartronic is you have to "count" during downshift instead of by position feel of a true manual. This takes a little getting use to. I didn't like it at first but have now adjusted to it. But I still find myself looking at the gear number + counting when downshifting coming out of a corner. I sometimes just flip it back to auto going into a turn and flip it back to manual coming out of the turn to avoid looking and counting.

The geartronic is a good compromise between me and the wife. She only drive auto. I wishing I had manual.

Pulled the cord and purchased an '01 Moondust V70 T5.

Leather

60K miles

Needs a new rear view mirror, and a driver side fog light.

Oh yeah, and a chip, and a rear spoiler, and an exhaust, and ipod integration, and 9000 hp and jet engines, and carbon fiber everything.

Pics in show room.
