Sinbad
So the agents just called me...This service is costing me USD 1000. Service, one engine mount and front discs/pads.And that's before they replace the turbo which they say is buggered... (But should be covered under my warranty)
merlin390
Darn what is their labor rate?

Sinbad
And the word on the turbo - Excess play and a chipped impeller blade. Still awaiting approval from the warranty underwriters to replace...
turboV70
oh man that sucks. You shoulda done the pads and rotors yourself to atleast save on the labor. ;)
maiku
OEM pads and rotors cost roughly 500CAD including labour...that's a ton of money
StickThatClutch
1000 doesn't sound too bad. Everytime I go in for major service it comes out to be around that. Granted its usually more than the major service (which usually comes out to be about 500).
Sinbad
Rotors/pads Labour was R480 = +- USD 80Parts were R2500 = +- USD 400 So labour wasn't too bad actually...Fun thing with new rotors and pads - it's like trying to stop with two sticks of butter pressed against the rotor! ... Good thing they hadn't done the turbo yet cos I probably would have stress tested it and then encountered an excess velocity problem ;)
Kibim
Its kinda like a standard service on my car. But you should start replacing w/ 3rd party stuff. It's cheaper 'n better. Esp things like disks 'n pads. Although, there is the 6 week wait from the US.
TheDiva
Yeah but sometimes it's cheaper getting the stuff here 'cause our S40's weren't in the US market Other option is the UK...
Sinbad
Not keen to go too aftermarket just yet, as the car is still under warranty... The warranty company is demanding all invoices from all services since I had the car, so they'll want to see proper dealer stuff at all times I imagine...
