I doubt that car even runs on the street. Too clean. Looks like a show-only car to me, maybe even a concept car. Maybe a sales demo for whatever supercharger of turbo that is (looks like a Paxton sc or something).

I have put many a long hours into that thought myself, but this car is no show car... Is anyone even at the repaint/resto level on this forum to consider such a mod?

There is no possible way you can daily drive your car and have it look like that. I've seen my share of show cars - that is definitely a carpet queen. Whoeer owns it MAY take it on the street for a few photo shoots or every few months.

I like it, but I doubt no one on this site would consider such a mod. It's just not practical. In fact, I would bet there are less than 100 people in the country that would perform such a conversion. You would have to quit your day job, because you would spend 40 hrs a week trying to keep that car that clean.

deleted windshield wipers validate slater's comments. I have seen a few daily driven VW's that come close to this level of detail. My old car was always unjustly accused of being a carpet/trailer queen, so I like to defend these cars.

Actually, its amazing what you can do when your willing to rewire a car from scratch, make LARGE fiberglass engine covers and weld all the holes shut everywhere.

There are limits though, this:

was what I considered pretty damn good for a 240.

(since this:

is stock)

But a white bay like that would be VERY difficult to keep that nice. On the SEMA car I want as little wiring visable as possible (and being coil on plug that will make it MUCH easier) + no uneed holes in the engine bay ect... but it is a car that will be taken out and have fun in ;) Pretty but functional

It's getting more and more popular.  I've seen quite a few cars on the tex like this mostly mkIII/IIs.

looks like someone else is into vdubs!!

this is actually a real car, not a concept, and there were cars similar to this at waterfest this year. were they driven or trailered i have no clue because i dod not go, but one hting's sure: looks real nice. as far as practical, i can't say i agree with it. imagine if you had to test some wires with a test light...

this car obviously has no heat (unless the lines to the heater core are also hiddedn) no w/wipers, and that alone makes it non-daily driveable, unledss you live in Texas or something. i definately could see some more things placed in that bay t make it a daily driver, but keeping it clean like that would be very very hard.

i just thought this was really interesting: since this is an MKII ('86.5 to '92 model year in Golf/Jetta body) its actually a pretty simple engine bay, but something like a 16valve (which i had) with power steering, A/C, oil cooler, battery, washer resevoir, coolant resevoir, and intake box make it look really cluttered, but with all that removed, it was very bare. a friend of mine had an '86 Jetta, bone stock with NO options and you could almost stand in the engine bay, just imagine with all the cluter removed.
