maiku
all chips are basically the samei think Rica has cheaper remaps
the underlørd
Kevin why is RICA the "best"? Just wondering why you make that assertion.←Well, let me clarify..For serious tuners, or for people who are doing things (switching turbo's upgrading part by part, etc..) RICA is the best because they can do custom maps, and at a reasonable cost. 750 for the original chip, then 100 per remap. IPD, all they do is call up MTE and they send them a map, at a cost of 400 dollars per remap.. and good luck getting any info out of them.. they haven't a clue when it comes to high performace, or out of the realm of 'ordinary' chip tuning maps.I went through them on the 18T for the LPT block, and I emailed them like 5 times trying to get them to tell me what they did to it, I still have no idea what's on that ECU..so, the hell with them, and 400 dollars for a remap? what is that about.. I'm very confused why anyone would go with them for ECU upgrading. especially when RICA is very comperable in price.
Guest Guest_bryanw1968_*
Kevin,Thanks for the input. Sorry for so many questions. This is my first time messing with something that doesn't have a double pumper on it with no computer :-). I will probably just be conservative and go with the speedtuning ECU and a K$N.Thanks,B

Take a look at AFE filters, cause they should be cheaper than K&N, and do the exact same thing.

Guest K$N
I was took a look at AFE's and they were $52. I continued to poke around and found K$N's for $37 at http://www.fox-performance.com/ with free shipping.Another question.....So if I do this speedtuning ECU upgrade how big of a risk am I running that I'm going to jack something up on the motor? I realize that anytime you push something behind what it was designed to do you increase the chance that something will break. However I have heard that Volvo doesn't skimp when putting these blocks together....eg;cranks, rods, bearings...Thanks,B

ECU mods don't hurt engines per se. (for 98% of the people, it's no problem at all)
