montgom
Well, I was tightening the petcock on my radiator and snap. It is now broken. No petcock on my poor little radiator. Any idea what I do next other than look stupid? How do I fix it? Bob
Bay13
The part number for a new "Drain Cock" as parts calls it is 3547226.As far as looking stupid, you now look like every techinician in the shop I work at, we have all broke those plastic pet cocks. Problem is that it's plastic and a 13mm socket takes it off and it's so easy to over tighten it and the thing breaks. If you get down and look at whats let, a HEX will fit up in the hole. Make sure you have the new one before you start messing with taking out the old one. With a new one in hand it's easier to figure out what size hex fits up there. The good news is that when they break it is usually when tightening them after a radiator drain, and they break off seated tight enough to not cause any leakage. Thanks. When I removed the socket wrench, there inside it was this hunk of plastic. About 1 cm long. The surface on the underside of the radiator was smooth and everything was flush. Next week I will get two these little petcocks. One in reserve for the next time i break it!Any tips on how "tight" to urn the petcock? I did not think I had overdone it the first time.Once again, thanks.Bob
