Dyno Numbers Tell The Truth........

Recommended Posts

Dyno'd my car last light on a brand new dyometer 4wd mustang dyno.

100degrees

Got 221hp/249tq and all the other runs went down from there.

Speedtuning claims 275/400 i don't see it. what is the % for driveline loss?

Also what is the % for auto's and manuals?

First you need to get streight the numbers. Wheel horse power and crank horse power, don't mix the two up. The crank hose power is always higher and thats what all the chip tuners are using when they sell their products. Then you go to a dyno and the numbers they usually use is horse power at the wheels, big difference. I'd suspect at least 20% loss with the auto trans and I'm not sure about the manual but less loss.

Your next step for tuning is to dyno when it's not 100 degrees in the shade. and to get a print out of the numbers especially the fuel maps and send that back to the chip tuner so they can adjust the fuel maps for max hp and torque.

Do not change anything else on your car, buy adding parts, like cams, intercoolers etc. like suggested. All those items will help add more horse power and torque, but you don't have what you have working correctly so don't jump ship and start adding more performance parts until you have whats on there already, tuned correctly.

This is a good place to recommend :

The money spent to buy and set up the product will cover a few trips to the dyno. This is the product you should have if you are going to buy up grades to your car and never get it tuned. Buy that I mean you are going to change something before anything is adusted to compensate. I see a lot of members on the forum in the constant state of up grades as the money becomes available, so if you want to know how the up grade did without really wanting to fine tune the car, then get the G-tech it's accurate enough to show the improvements or declines.

gtechpro = $200

dyno time = $000

probably will eliminate the cbv, run a apexi bov and maybe a apexi afc.

just nned to know how to get into the ecu to change the fuel and the boost curves

John made 223whp and around 210-215 w trq with: Stock chip, 3" turboback, Atech and a 5spd.

His numbers were very good...mine dyno'd around 185whp @ 10psi running VERY VERY VERY rich (10:1 AFR). Noah's made about 195-200ish If I recall Correctly running 14psi, iPd chip and 2.5" catback.

Im working on getting the numbers up right now
