Sweating Oil Filler Cap (part 2)

ok, a while ago i posted about oil possible coming out ot the oil filler cap. today i went to check the state of my spark plugs, and took off that ignition wire cover, and there a little amount of oil in there. the last time i took off the cover, i cleaned it with soap and water, and dried the part f the head where the wires are ran so it would be clean.

so i took off the cover today, and there was oil in there...again. so here is my reasoning: it can only come from 2 places: the filler cap, or the hose that curls down between the intake mani and the injector rail.

i am afraid to replace the rubber on the oil filler cap because that may cause the pressure to rise in the system from better sealing on the cap. im also confused in that i read ther eis no 'PCV' valve system on the turbo equiped cars, but the hose that curls and goes down between the injector rail and the intake mani is some sort of a breather...it could be clogged.

so i dont know what to do. what is the funtion of that hose that curls and goes down between the injector rail and the intake mani??

should i just put another rubber on the filler cap??

also, ther eia a bit of an oily residue on the turbo pipe that runs over and to the back of the engine to the turbo...right where it almost ends by the heat shield. how do i get rid of that?

i did run a search, but for some reason i just could not figure it out.

can someone help me please????

thanks in advance, and im sorry for the inexperient vocabulary.

Vclvc,

I believe that the rubber seal on your oil filler cap is intended to make a tight seal and if it has gotten too stiff or otherwise degraded to do that you should replace it.

well, i did inspect the rubber gasket on the oil filler cap, and it was pretty hard...did not look as if to properly seal in its state.

however, i am worried that there is a pressure build up from somewhere and it is escaping through the badly sealing oil filler gasket instead of blowing out any other gaskets.

is that what that hose it there for? to let excess pressure escape?

i guess i need to remove the intake mani to see where that hose goes and see it is is clogged somewhere. if it is not clogged, then i will check the seal of the hose to the top of the head. i was able to pull that hose off its bib on the head wuith just my hand by pulling up on it.

anyone have any ideas?

am i being a PITA?

i dont want my car to behave like the cartoons that get shot in the belly after drinking water <_<

so no worries about that little hose being clogged, or me being able to pull it off with just my havd??

what does that hose do anyway??

it goes to the PCV box..which is located under the intake manifold...and yes it does get clogged...quite easily too...is smoke or pressure coming out of hte dipstick when the car is running? If not, you're probably alright...there are a few vacumn lines down there that get old and brittle and become clogged...this can cause positive crankcase pressure...check for smoke out of your dipstick or filler cap...then report back
