any advice?

I have a 99 V70 that had the check engine light come on. I have the Genysis scanner and it displayed the P0136 code. I replaced th eRear o2 Sensor with OEM and the light still comes on after I let off the gas and the car coasts. The sensor is brand new and came from Volvo. Any thoughts? The front is about 11 monthes old and 8,000 miles. The code is for the rear sensor. My genysis does not let me get any live data from the sensors to confirm the operation. the light will stay off for a long time even on highway until I get off th ethrottle and let it coast,

thanks for any help.

You've probably already done these:

Make sure the connections to the new O2 sensor are sound and correct;

Check for damage to the wiring to the O2 sensor;

Check for exhaust leaks.

All looks good! I was told by a factory mech. there could be a bunch of volvo codes that are not displayed by my scanner. I am going to try and get my hands on a factory pc for a good look. not yet sure if this will happen though.

Going to look at everything again later today or tonight when I can find some time. Thanks.

How are you clearing the codes?

My Genysis scanner by OTC also tonight used a nice Volvo factory tool, think it was using VADIS on a toughbook. this let me view the data but nothing figured out yet, only code was the faulty signal from rear o2.

I think I will smoke th eexhaust system next to look for any small leaks. The front o2 was a little lean at .97something.

The rear signal was good and active just not within the adaptive or parameters the computer is looking for I guess. I will let everyone know what I find if I figure it out.

Thank you all for all the help.

Could possibly be a cat issue...."possibly"

I hope it does not come to that. I do not hear of many people doing Cats at 95K but It still could be.

I never found the time to smoke the exhaust system yet but that will be my next step. The front sensor was running a little lean also, that has me wondering if maybe the engine is at fault rather than the O2 system or cat? My fingers are crossed. Might be the weekend before I can get back to it!

Thanks
