Shiftlock Microswitch Elimination

My shiftlock microswitch recently failed on my 98 S70 or something of that sort resulting in the vehicle not coming out of park unless the shiftlock release button is engaged. (obviously) Although this is a common problem and is repairable how hard is it to delete and or eliminate this safety mechanism? When I spoke with Anders the owner of Swedecar in Torrance Ca, where my car is being diagnosed/serviced, he mentioned being able to disconnect this mechanism entirely. Is there any negative factors by doing this? Or is it just a matter of not having to depress the brake pedal to make a gear selection? What do you think? Thanks Ruftek.

Do a search on a post I did on this subject about 1-1/2 yrs. ago. I replaced sw. on my 98 V70 and I gave the description on how the system works.

There may be an issue if you jumper the switch but I can't remember exactly.

by the way if you get to the switch to jumper it, you already did 75% of the work needed to replace it.
