sometimes, but not everytime, the radiator fan continues working for about 5-7 minutes after the car is shut off... this seems really weird. i can see it working for a few seconds, that's normal... but that long?

is that normal? it seems like too much of a battery drain.

If I recall Correctly its normal. There was a recall on later cars but for yours it is normal.

Its actual not normal for a non-P2 car. However, if its really hot and you've been running your engine hard it will stay on for a bit. P2's have a fan to clear the moisture out of the HVAC system and can run for 20 minutes. My older FWD has had the fan on for maybe 5 mintues but this is a rare occurance only after I beat the heck out of the car.

I have a '99 T5 that does the same thing, at least on the occaisions where I really hit the boost for long periods of time before shutting down. I live in College Station, Texas, where for the past 2 months the temperature has been over 105 °F every day in the afternoon. Coming home from work, boosting 12-14PSI for a large percentage of the drive (lots of passing on the freeway), it does it quite a bit. But on cool mornings, not boosting much, never a problem. When it does stay on, it always shuts down after 3-5 minutes...

Now, I did have a '98 S70 GLT that had a pre-heat fan relay blow out, and it stayed on for 45 minutes before I finally yanked the relay out... But that was not the primary fan, rather the auxilliary fan that's inline with the intake on the "98 GLTs.

My dos centavos;) Good luck!
