DanielSFbay
S70 AWD Turbo 8400?!!I'm looking to buy another 850 class volvo. My 93 GLT just got out of the shop with a complete valve job (1800.00 later). It was 1000 just to R&R the head. I would done that part myself, but my carport would have been a mess. Anyway, what do you think of that S70? Decent looking price? Good year?
maiku
try to get 9899 is a bad year (ETM issues)but if you can deal with the computer crapping out, the car should work nice
highspeed11
It has 93k+ miles. I'm sure it's had at least one ETM replacement. I want an AWD S70 as well. 8,400 seems high. Maybe I'm a cheapskate. Plus most S70's that I see have >60K miles.p.s. where did you take your 850?
the underlørd
PS - why do you want AWD in San Fransisco ? waste of time and money, IMO.
MrWinkey
94-98 are the best years "In my opinion only" not trying to offend anyone ;)
highspeed11
PS - why do you want AWD in San Fransisco ? waste of time and money, IMO.←Why would a person want a turbocharged car anywhere? Besides I've always loved Subaru and what they produce. I also go to Tahoe as often as possible. Never driven an AWD Volvo in the snow but have driven my Legacy very much while living in NY. I wouldn't ever trade that. Drive an S70 GLT and then an S70 AWD. Let me know which one you prefer. Plus you have to start somewhere when you want a '99 R sedan. highspeed11
What would having a turbo charged car have to do with having AWD?←Since neither is needed I'm just using it as an example of a personal preference.I also hate the rear brake design of the earlier model FWD cars. 550
well just to let you know AWD in a volvo isn't really AWD the bias is 5% RWD and 95% FWD.I think what kevin is saying is that why get AWD if there is no snow or ice... it is sort of a parasitic waste of gas. highspeed11
I'm familiar with the Haldex system. I still feel it handles a little better.
550
ok, but don't mix up the haldex system in a VW and in a volvo. The haldex system in a VW is much more performance tuned, not to mention you can bias it more to the reaer if you want using the haldex controller. But to eash his own!good luck

DanielSFbay
PS - why do you want AWD in San Fransisco ? waste of time and money, IMO.←Well, I dont live in San Francisco proper. I live south in a city called San Bruno, mostly flat area.well just to let you know AWD in a volvo isn't really AWD the bias is 5% RWD and 95% FWDI really had know idea. I thought there would be a significant change in handleing. Every year I do go over to Tahoe...in the snow, for that matter.
