What Do I Do Now!

Well, went to Co-part in Knoxville today and pulled the stereo out of the car.

Tragically two of the four crossovers that are part of the DLS iridium set were missing. Whoever took em was a complete idiot b/c they left the speakers and the primo head unit. Who knows why they took one (the midrange) crossover box, from both sides. Whatever. I got the bulk out and left a Kraco cassette player and the stock speakers.

The doors were left.

Dont worry, they never really satisfied me anyway.

So anyhow, this P2 system has me in fits.

Pull the HU and you lose steering wheel controls. Leave it in and gain OEM look, function ( or lack thereof), and performance (ditto on the lack thereof).

I guess the options are....

Sell the CDX-C90 which i am going to do. (check the for sale forum, thats there along with my chip)

Then, install the DLS speakers in place of the factory paper thingies. This might improve the sound a good bit, we'll have to see.

If that doesnt satify me, then i will design and build a little crossover network to install in the door. and Regain the 3way setup.

Another issue is the sub. No way am i tapping the rear speakers for power to that thing.

one option is to have made a 6-pin din connection but have the fronts on the din connector go to the sub/ Then let the sub and fronts be on the same channel. YEAH THAT SOUNDS GOOD!!!

Ideas, comments, questions?

fear not my man :)

heres is hwat i would do...

call up peripheral (www.stinger-aamp.com), and PEI to see if their steering interface modules work with the volvos, being p2s the module, such as the peripheral peswix, may work if its related to ford :) if it does, then you can keep steering wheel control and get an aftermarket headunit

get a new headunit, the new pioneers with 20 bit burr browns work pretty well...:)

get a set of crossovers, if you want i can hit up my contact at DLS and see if they can provide you with a set...so you need the midrange crossovers?

dont just stick the dls in stock locations, hwo knows what kind of funky impedance the stock system if running at ;)
