montgom
I have a new V70, has about 1200 miles. Any ideas on when to do the first oil and filter? I would like to switch to Mobil 1 5-30W and a new filter. The question is when? Thanks for your opinions.Bob

montgom
asap←Oh my gosh , what has resulted from 1200 miles? When should I have done the first oil change?Bob
Bay13
Change the Oil every 3-4K miles and you will be OK. First one at 3K or so is just fine.

S60 R
I realize u already did it, but Volvo goes by 6000 or 7000 miles (dont have the owners manual in front of me, sorry). I still will go with every 3000, which will be soon-about 2500 on it now

Or twice a year, since my car gets mainly freeway miles at around 70 mph, with no real load. I figured 3k was too soon and 7 k seemed to late. Any logic to my plan? I don't know! Also, the car does not use any oil, so if I try to add a little Mobil one every few thousand miles to replenich lost additves, I can't!Bob

I had an Eclipse and only put about 5-6000 miles a year on it. I used synthetic, and a couple times only changed it twice a year.It really depends on your mileage and your driving habits, but from what u say your logic sounds fine
yangotang
This is what I convinced my mom to do for her XC90:Let the dealer oil change with dino oil every 7500 miles (scheduled maintenance).I change the oil for her every half interval (3750) miles. It's easiest and cheapest.

So, Mobil 1 for me!Bob
