volvolady
Re: 2001 V70 XC Can someone please tell us if its possible to replace only the rubber boot on the brake booster. We have had the slight hissing from the brakes for a few months, but have lived with it. However, now its a full-fledged air loss, and the brakes are hard if you have to brake suddenly. Investigation reveals that the rubber boot covering the brake booster is ripped. The repair shop says that the entire brake booster has to be replaced (per local dealer advice). The estimate is $800, the part alone is $500! Surely, if its only the boot that is ripped, can't you just replace this? If anyone can give us some advice on this, we'd be grateful. Thanks! starfish
You need a new brake booster. Your present one has an internal leak. The price seems ok.
Bay13
What he said ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^There are no spare parts listed for the repair of the booster, so you have to put the whole thing on to fix the vacuum leak.
