Disconnect your battery for about 15 minutes. Then before you reconnect the negative cable back up touch the negative cable to the positive one sitll on the battery. Then hook up the battery, start the car and see if you have the sun roof back. This resets all the modules in case the upper electronic module hasn't been sleeping correctly. If that doesn't work I'd need a schematic.

This morning my sunroof stopped functioning. I mean nothing not even a click, but it worked fine just few days ago.

I checked the fuse, but it looks good. Any ideas, anyone? I heard to check relay but where can I find it.

Did you disconnect the battery recently? Perhaps between the last time the sunroof worked until now?

I remember my sunroof didn't work after I disconnected/reconnected the battery to clean the fan inside the Electronic Climate Control unit. I also went looking for the fuse etc...

Unfortunitely, I don't remember exact sequence of what I did to get the sunroof operating again. I vaguely remember doing something seemingly unrelated like locking and unlocking the car using the central locking buttons. It was weird. But it does sounds like it was the reset issues explained by Rich.

Thanks for your responses,

I tried both the battery and remote locking and unlocking. No joy, but as I was playing with the window and central lock buttons, and key I think in II position the sunroof came to life. I have trying the switch on and off throughout the whole thing. So the sunroof briefly worked and then I started the car and nothing, weird. I can't figure out what I did, but I can't duplicate it. Sunroof is still inop and wife is getting grouchy.

OK,

I got it fixed. What happed was my alarm siren malfunctioned. As a result control module was not "talking" to my sunroof, as the Volvo Dealer explained. The charge for diagnostic was $104 and they wanted $280 to replace the siren. Disconnecting the siren does the trick though. Now I am looking for a siren so my alarm is fully functional. Anyway sunroof works 5.0. Thanks for all responses.

Sorry to hear it cost you $100 to find out. But at least the wife is happy with a working sunroof again. My wife swears that she can't live without a glass sunroof now (more light, more air)

For future DIY diagnostic reference, since the alarm siren melfunctioned, did your red indicator on top of the dash flash when you lock the door with the remote?

Was the audible alarm functional? An easy test would be to lock the door with remote but leave the windows down and open the door with the inside handle (done that a few times)

Is disconnecting the siren easy?

Yes, my red indicator flashed when I used the remote to lock the doors. The audible was not functional and obviously it still isn't, but upon alarm activation my lights would flash.

The siren is little tricky. It is located in the upper front part of the right wheel wall. There are two bolts holding it in place. On one top, the other on the bottom. I gain access by removing the wheel and plastic liner from the bottom, for the top bolt I had to remove the right headlight. It took me about 2 hours. Not too bad. Now I have to find a siren somewhere.
