dynakev Posted August 22, 2005 Report Share Posted August 22, 2005 Hello,We are coming up on 60k miles on the wife's 2000 2.9 non-turbo S80, and it looks like the serpentine belt (among other things) is due for replacement. I would like to do this myself, as the nearest Volvo dealership is about 400 miles away. Are there any special tools or tricks to this replacement? What about OEM vs aftermarket belts? I found out the hard way about aftermarket brake pads; man, did they squeak.I am also considering cleaning the ETM. Any tips on removal and cleaning? My understanding is that no software load is required if you remove/clean/replace your existing ETM, but a dealer software load is required if you install a new ETM. You will also want to replace your plugs and air filter. Also the cabin filter as well. As for an aftermarket belt never use the stuff,OEM only try FCP Groton for your parts.
