ssee
New to this forum and first post!I have a 2000 S40 1.9T with 117K. My Check Engine Light came on for the first time last week and dropped it off at my local dealer. Turns out that I needed software updates on my ECM and thought it was causing the CEL to come on. They also noted that the front O2 sensor may need replacing, but did not do it at the time. Today, the CEL came on again, almost to the week that I had it in for service. Turns out the front O2 sensor needs to be replaced, at a tune of $398 total. The part number is 30617335. What's the cost for the part alone? Is this something I can do myself? And if I am able to do it myself, will the CEL still stare at me or will it go away without software update? Thanks in advance for your help!Steve

jedshadey
Heh I have a 01 v40 with only 26k and I get the same thing, I just tighten down my gas gap and after about 40 miles or so the light goes off. That light is the most annoying thing besides the rattle I have in my sunroof.
MrWinkey
Don't quite know what the o/2 costs but like posted I would try FCP Groton...as for the light being on after you replace it, if you cannot clear the codes with a scan tool (pulling the neg. batt. terminal may clear them) if you continue to drive the car, the light will eventually go out but it won't happen immediately. Also an 0/2 code is diffrent than a gas cap code and at 117k it very well may need an 0/2 but NO download needed ;)
