Guest Guest_Showtime_*
Has anybody found a good/enviromentally sound way of getting rid of used antifreeze. None of my local auto parts stores will take it.-Showtime
EMDII
Take it to a dealer. they are required to separate or dispose of A/F in accordance w/ certain EPA statutes.Reputable radiator shops are another 'go-to'.
robert213
Also, call your local city/county government and ask for the location of nearest hazardous chemical disposal site. Not only do they accept used oil and anti-freeze. They will accept those old cans of paint, lacquer thinner, and aresol spray cans down in your basement. MrWinkey
Has anybody found a good/enviromentally sound way of getting rid of used antifreeze. None of my local auto parts stores will take it.-Showtime←If you brought it to my shop I would gladly take it but I would ask a few $ in return for taking it because I get charged to have it taken from me. If you refused to pay the couple of $ I would take it anyway because I wouldn't want to see it somewhere it shouldn't be. PLEASE dispose of it correctly for your children/grandchildren/their children ...yadayada... ;)

EMDII
IF you are not using the glycol-based anti-freeze, you might (local laws govern too) be able to dispose of it as Larry states. But the ethylene glycol coolant is exceptionally poisonous, and exceptionally tasty. Domestic animals love it, as do kids. So, risk what rather than take a 10m trip to a local approved disposer? Let's get real: if you use glycol-based coolant DO THE RIGHT THING.
