BillAileo Posted August 28, 2005 Report Share Posted August 28, 2005 The Reference section of Volvospeed includes a discussion of the Vehicle Explorer software that supports their system for reading OBDII codes. Later model Volvos now are CAN systems. Has anyone had experience with a PC based reader that will read both OBDII and CAN systems such as the later TRICOM system by Vehicle Explorer or some other system? I am presently using a Harrison R&D PC based OBD-II Scan tool. Harrison has developed a PC based CAN tool but it cannot read OBDII systems & I would prefer to go with a single reader for both if that's reasonable.Bill Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Bay13 Posted August 28, 2005 Report Share Posted August 28, 2005 Volvo uses CAN but thats Volvos choice, the system has to be OBD II compliant and it is. Any OBD II software program should work.Unless you are trying to find a way to read all the other modules that don't have to be OBD II compliant, not sure how that will go.
