Wiring Question

Is there any reference information in VADIS or one of the Volvo service tech books (NOT chiltons/Haynes) that shows what wires are what in the cabin uner the driver's kick panel? It seems like it's a lot of guessing.

I am cusious what wires are available for various things (i.e. engine sensors and whatnot) and it would be nice to know what ALL of teh wires that are down there are. There are multiple thick bundles, and I doubt they are all for the lighting and cluster.

no wiring in vadis, you could look up the harness part number but not the actual wiring diagram. If you have VADIS and the wiring diagram, there should be nothing you can't trouble shoot and fix. I say that and you watch tomorrow at work something will make me eat my words. :P

Ah, OK. I'll get the diagram. I really need it. $20 is peanuts and is easier than frying fuses and stuff trying to find wires that may not even be there.

What about book TP3501201?

That manual tells you how to repair connectors, harness etc. I don't have it the shop does, and I'm not very impressed with it. I suppose a book like that should be around but I'm not spending money on it after see whats in it. If working electrical stuff doesn't bother you, (like garlic to the blood suckers) then it's really not needed.

OK. I can't imagine it takes a 200 page book to tell you how to repair connectors. Unless the writing is REAL BIG like kids books hehe.

Anyways, thanks for the info. I'll order the book you recommended today.

While I'm in there, do you think there's any other books that would be useful to have hard copies of? The Motronic 4.3 book looks pretty good. I already have VADIS, so I don't want something that's already ALL in there, but I'm up for extra informaiton that's NOT in there. VADIS is a little skimpy on a lot of information sometimes.

The motronic book is good.  If you really knew VADIS inside and out you could find everything in the book on VADIS, but usually VADIS is on the computer and the car is outside, so the book can be moved a lot easier.

Well, the wiring info is one example. I have yet to find the wiring stuff exactly like what I am looking for in VADIS...

And as far as the Motronic info, if you ignore the sensor descriptions, and troubleshooting procedures, and the install and replacement info, there is VERY little in VADIS on the design and "under the hood" function of the Motronic ECU. Or should I say the "inside the box" function.
