Brewin4u
Is there any secret to getting the rear door open?My wife tells me the door would stick occasionally but squeezing the door latch a little tighter would do the trick, this weekend I've giving it all I can but the door won't come loose. And yes it's unlocked... Does it need some kind of lubrication? Thanks,Paul
Bay13
Are you talking about the tail gate door, the 5th door? No secrets I know of. Have you tried from the inside? Before I say any more I'll wait to see exactly which door you are talking about.
the underlørd
rich, it's the rear wagon door, and he doesn't have the 3rd seat.
Bay13
No third seat means there might not be an inside release. Bad.The back panel needs to come off and you need to get in there and watch the rods move as you try to open things. once you get it open, try opening it with the lift up, then with it shut, but not all the way. You could have a harness problem. The harness is on the drivers side of the car (USA) and runs with the hinge then inside the car. If you take out the trim back there where the speaker is, you can see where the connector connects. I've made several repairs to wires cause they have broken. One time I had to go back in cause I miss a broken wire. The problem was the wire wasn't broken in two, it was broke inside the insulation, I had to kind of feel it. It was in the same area as the rest of the total breaks though.

I pulled the back panel off last night and traced the handle mechanism (Rods) to the lock piece but cannot find any "moving" parts past there. I didn't notice any cables or wires but will run down to the garage after I post this to look again. My mechanic will take a look this afternoon to advise whether or not he can fix it or if I need to have a visit with the dealer. I'm at a total loss on this one... But now my thoughts shift to whether or not this issue is covered under my extended warranty.... <_<

So far, the three or four times it has stuck, I've only had to give a good solid pull on the tailgate to get the door to open. Sounds like I better refer back to this thread when I have time to do some preventive maintenance in my tailgate.
