BenW
So my question is this:1) IPD's TME upgrade touts respectable gains but retains torque limits in 1st and 2nd gear. So esentially, 0-60 times are unchanged. Making the chip, what, useful on the interstate only?2)IPD's chip is one of the more expensive ones that i see. Roughly $1k versus some others as low as say $600. What makes the IPD worth more? The name?3) Do other makers limit the torque like IPD in 1st and 2nd? BSR? Upsolute? Evolve?4) any comments you can add to this worn out discussion?
chimera
http://www.___.com has a whole list of chip manufacturers and reviews. However, none of them even mention the 1st and 2nd gear torque once the ECU is chipped. Is there a place that can desolder the original chip and install a socket so that the end user can swap out chips rather than getting them reprogrammed? StickThatClutch
FWD cars don't have a torque limiter? You're thinking of the AWD R?
BenW
No torque limiting?Check the PDF..... http://www.ipdusa.com/pdf/ECUInfo.1.pdfNevermind, that says for the R models only. I would just hate to invest that much money and have 1st and 2nd act pretty much the same as stock.

Basically the tires will spin before there is a massive load on the tranny that could lead to damage. That's not to say that the STC/DSTC won't cut boost and ruin the party though. But you can always push the little button for that one. :)
BenW
My experience with the 850R was that the chip pretty much negated the function of the TRACs system anyhow. I wonder if the same is true on the newer FWD models.
Resh
My understanding is that post 2001 V70 and S60 T5s dont have a torque limiter fitted as everything was made stronger. The older S/V/C 70 models with automatic transmission did.
