p3flyer
Hello to all,On my 2001 V70 I get occasional Engine Check with emission system service required message. My Volvo dealer tells me that the fault in ABS system (possible module problem) is causing this. Is this even possible or do I have two unrelated problems? Emissions and ABS module. In your infinite wisdom someone please help. Thanks in advance.
MrWinkey
If they say it's in the module it probably is. The CEL comes on because the ECM see's no VSS signal(speed sensor) . But anyway the two lights are more than likely related.
Bay13
With the newer cars Post 1999, the ABS or BCM(brake control module) Is the boss for speed of the car, it supplies that information on the can net, and it's used buy the trans, the engine computer, the radio, the instrument cluster ETC. If the speed signal isn't being provided then the big boys, the ECM and the TCM strongly object. = they turn on the check engine light or set a message in the DIM (drivers information module.)
