Zag-Town Rider
Look at 8th and 9th position of VIN -- right after the "W" for wagon. "55" - 10.5:1 2.4L without turbo"56" - 9.0:1 2.4L with turbo at 6 psi"57" - 8.5:1 2.3L with turbo at 9.6 psi"58" - 8.5:1 2.3L with turbo with enhanced ECU←Hey I was just reading stuff on the boards and I saw this info you can obtain from the VIN on 850's. I'm guessing their is a designation system similiar to this for S70's. If there is, does anyone know it?Thanks.
T5BRICK
those apply to '98 x70s as well. might be the same for '99-00?your VIN should have a 56 in it if so.

Bay13
I show 53 as a B2345 T3 That would be a HPT rig.

It is full of all kinds of information. TP 0302206, TP stands for tech publication. 1-800-25-VOLVO and it's about $25. It covers 1991-1998 700, 900, V90, 850, S70, V70, C70. Make a you very smart. :P

medicT5
I believe when searching the VIN on the S70 for this code the numbers are in the 6th and 7th position, unlike the 850's 8th and 9th.I didn't know the 53 was for HPT, I just thought it was the T5 identifier.... knowledge is power. Young grasshopper has much to learn.... thanks !
