S80 Ac R134a Fill Up Question

Using the Low pressure side of the AC refridgeant recharge valve....

My readings keep flucuating and the AC seems to be clicking on and off...

When the AC first goes on the gauge reads Low...and then builds up to full...and right before it reaches the "alert" zone, the AC turns off , or at least a click is heard and the pressure goes back low again...

and these clicks are maybe 45 seconds apart...

Is there something wrong? is this normal? THANKS!

The S80 is not a cycling clutch orface tube set up. (CCOT) like the 1993 to 1998. There is an expansion valve in the S80. Not sure the cycling is normal or not. Would depend on ambient temperature, was max cold selected or was it set at 68, etc, too many variables not known.

Are you having a problem with the A/C Cooling?

Max cold...and highest fan on. Ambient Temp this morning was about 68 degrees - 70...

Last week during some 100 degree weather... the AC was going, and then all of a sudden the air went stale, and the air was not cold. After playing with the interior temp thing, the air went cold... then went stale, and after playing with the temp things again, the air would not go back cold. The car has spent many summers in Nevada and Arizona without a hitch in higher temps... 112+ degrees.

Now, in say 90-95 degrees, the AC doesnt seem to get that cold...and I keep hearing the AC compressor going on and off more frequently than usual. It hasnt had that same problem with the stale air as before... but also temps have gone down maybe 10 degrees... I dont know if the refrigerant is low... or if perhaps something else is going on...
