Might Be Getting A New Volvo

If I were you I'd nix the carmax warranty, and go to a Volvo dealer and get an extended warranty from them. Reason is that most of the repairs will be sent to the volvo dealer and Most Volvo dealer don't work well with CarMax. Reason being Carmax wants to get the parts at cost from their resources and send them to the dealer to be used. That doesn't fly at the dealer I work at. Something to consider.

Sending the car to the Volvo dealership is an option. If i have it repaired under Carmax warranty at Carmax I incur a $50 deductible, at Volvo it's $75. Since carmax doesnt do loaners, I'll gain back the $25 and then some by not having to get a rental at the Volvo dealership(but even if i did have to get a rental, carmax warranty reimburses $25/day).

Let me say it another way

We had a customer with a Carmax Warranty, he needed the $1000 ETM replacement. The customer had to pay for it him self because CarMax would not give approval to the dealer to do the repairs. Carmax cannot do any repairs that reqire a VIda computer hook-up or software down load.

basically it comes down to them financing in the cost of the warranty. if there's something camax will not approve me on, i'll just take my chances with them on getting it fixed. odds are they are going to have to send it on over to volvo anyway on their dime if they don't have the equipment. this happened last time the 850 was in the shop.
