jakenutter
Hello all,My mother has fallen in love with the "newer" style Volvos and wants to purchase a S60 or S80 sedan. My only Volvo experience was with a faithful 240 wagon that eventually rusted to death. She lives in a rural area, (about 2 hours from nearest dealer) so the car needs to be as reliable as possible -I can't have anything that will leave her stranded. From what I can gather a 2002+ non-turbo, 2wd S60 would be the way to go, but I welcome any input or suggestions as to other models and /or what problem areas to check.TIA for all your helpJake
Bay13
2002+ non-turbo, 2wd S60Excellent choice for your mother. If I remove the fact that I'm a tech and work on these everyday and just want a Volvo for nothing but transportation and nothing else, thats the car that I'd purchase. When the S60 came out it had a great low problem after sales, really low. The S60 minus the new S60R and V70R is relatively reliable car. Not to say the "R" are not but they have many more high tech systems installed and lots more power and such and have had a few problem, nothing that hasn't been resolved. For the just want a safe and reliable car type of person you have made a good choice.
