rodrigo
I have been using Castrol motor oil since I bought my first car (7 years ago). When my old Jetta reached 160,000 miles I switched it to Castrol High Mileage (went to 197,000), and it was fine...didn't really notice a difference. So, naturally, my Volvo's have had Castrol...the regular 10/30 in the previous 940, and I used 5/30 in the current 850 LPT.Before driving down to Maryland last Friday, I did an oil change...Mobil 1 High Mileage 5/40. The car had 147,000 miles, no oil consumption, and oil and oil filter is changed every 3000 miles. Here's what I noticed: . no more valve tappy noise for .05 sec on start up in the morning.. boost gauge reads +4 in Hg at iddle when at operating temp.Pretty cool! Wasn't expecting to make that much of a difference. What you guys think...normal?

PorBleemo
I think you have a boost leak Yeah, less vacuum is not better for these cars. Unless it rose with the A/C on.
rodrigo
Yeah, less vacuum is not better for these cars. Unless it rose with the A/C on.I think I worded it wrong...the boost gauge used to read 20-21 in Hg. with the CatrolNow it reads 23-24 in Hg. with the castrol.when the A/C is on, it always goes -2 in HgNow, with the Mobil, it iddles cold at 20 or so, and after warming up I'll drive around for a bit and while rolling, I'll let off the gas and it will read 23-24 in HgIs that symptoms of a vaccuum leak? I'll have to perform a search.

Should I just return to the regular Castrol I was using before on the oil change? You guys are getting me worried
