Asinine
Crappers. I got hit by a stone the other day and didn't think anything of it, then all of a sudden yesterday i noticed a small crack in the centre of my windshield. It hasn't gotten bigger (that i can tell), so today i went to see if the glass guys can fix it. The dude said he can try but the pressure from the machine might crack it and then the whole thing will need to be replaced.Fix = 60New glass = 325I'm kinda torn about what to do. I need to keep an eye on my cash flow right now, so i think i'll err on the chance that fixing won't work, and on that line of thought replace the whole windshield as the crack grows.Any opinions - and insurance won't cover it casue i only have liability on account of my awesome driving record :D

StickThatClutch
Just got a new windscreen on my car the other day. $233 USD. No way to repair my crack though. I'd just replace the whole thing.Oh and that's the 6th windshield I've put on my car since new!
WhiteT5
325!wow..seems high.$325 is for aftermarket non-OEM glass. I believe the OEM piece runs about $900. It's $1300 for OEM on my dad's Nissan. We've full insurance on all the cars though w/ $100 deductible on glass damage.

Crack your windows when you park. When the windows are closed the heat tries to escape thru any where like the crack. B4 u know it its on the other side. burchs1
I have 0 deductible on glass for all our cars. Something to consider when setting up your auto policies. the underlørd
Even though it's zero deductable, that doesn't mean rates won't go up for each claim you make... right? especially if you're young..Volvo OE glass for a 2004 V70R with rain sensors was like 375 out the door from the dealership. StickThatClutch
Well here's what I have. I got the same Pilkington glass as the OE windshield this time it isn't marked with Volvo, SIPS and all that nice stuff just the PK symbol. It has the same little dots for shading the top of the mirror. I was surprised at how cheap it was - $233. Last couple times I paid for the same glass with all the OEM markings the cost was just about $500 installed. I figure I'll probably have to replace it again (at this rate I get a new windsheild every 15-18k miles). Most glass companies will let you specify the brand of glass you want. Just ask for Pilkington and its the exact same as OEM sans the Volvo markings.
