swmdal Posted October 4, 2005 Report Share Posted October 4, 2005 Thanks for the suggestions regarding my earlier post about my 2000 V40 showing 0101/0103 codes. Those have gone away, but now I'm getting 0014/0015 codes, which my reader interprets as "Camshaft Position Actuator B-Bank 1 Timing Over-Retarded" (0015) and "...Over-Advanced" (0014). In the first place, I can't even find any codes numbered any lower than 0100 in listings of OBDII codes--maybe these are Volvo-specific codes? In the second place, they seem to be giving opposite messages about the same engine components. Maybe I shouldn't have bought a code-reader. The CEL is not on--yet. I was running it on 87 octane for a while but just switched back to 93 a half a tank ago, which immediately cleared up the surging and rough-running I was getting with the 0101/0103 codes, which quickly went away on their own. Any chance that the engine computer could be compensating for the remaining mixed 87/93 octane by doing funny things with the timing? There are no obvious problems with the way it's running.
