RvolvoR
I would hope a Rebel XT kit would be less than $899. I'd think you should be able to pick it up on the street for about ~$800. But why would you buy a Canon? cause they dont feel cheap in your hands, lol, just an observation from when i went and looked at a 20D and a D70
StickThatClutch
cause they dont feel cheap in your hands, lol, just an observation from when i went and looked at a 20D and a D70Hehe. D70 is still the best plastic body I've ever held. 20D is a bit more up market. Mag body is nice. :)
yangotang
Hehe. D70 is still the best plastic body I've ever held. 20D is a bit more up market. Mag body is nice. Nikon sucks. They are built for people with small brains who don't understand how to operate Canon DSLR cameras. </opinionated>I own a Canon Rebel XT, and i love it. patrick
im not an xt fan at all, no offense to anyone who has one. if you dont have a canon setup already, theres no reason to buy that camera in that price range. D50, maxxum 5d, even the pentax are competitive, for less money. i actually prefer the D50 and its 200 less retail. the 5d has the most gadgets for sure, does alot more than the xt, people get sucked into 'megapixels' w/ the canon, which is how canon works... advertising. in reality it doesnt mean stuff... canon spends more money on advertising than any other two companies combined. the comment about nikon being for amateurs/idiots is quite the opposite. the canons have the most advanced auto modes, nikon doesnt put fixed filters on their ccd's either like canon. canon makes a good product but if i were buying an xt id go up to the 20d or down to the orig. rebel and put the extra $$ in lenses. just my opinion. D70 will still own a Xt in nearly everything, by the way
Guest Prognar
My job has 10d's and a 1d with a plethora of canon lenses, but I still went the nikon route because their lenses are a lot sharper, cameras are lighter, more durable, better programmed, faster startup (though canon is getting better at that)Canon's aren't bad persay, but it takes a lot of money to get the same quality of a nikon, lens or camera. JeffW
Aren't those about a grand? Good camera, though. For $500, my money's on a Canon Powershot S2 IS.Agreed.Don't feel the need to buy at Worstbuy. Other vendors may beat their price even with discount.S2
viperman135
I was just thinking about cameras. We should set up a review for them in the show room like there are for tires in performace. Just an idea.
TheDiva
I prefer Canon... still looking to buy a 350D (stupidly called a plastic name like Rebel over there) or a 20D. I find the menu's easier to get around, feels great in my hands & I've got bits from my Canon film SLR that Ii can use on either. I think it comes down to ease of use & if it's comfortable & responsive enough for you. Go try a bunch of brands & make your decision that way, no use taking someone else's word for it. What I might find awkward on a camera ie button placement, you might be happy with.
JeffW
........people get sucked into 'megapixels' w/ the canon, which is how canon works... advertising......I disagree. First off, Canon usually gives you the least megapixels per $.I buy Canon because, side by side, on the same day under the same conditions, The Canon's pictures simply come out better. Also, they practically invented the modern digicam user interface. I have an old Canon point -n- shoot (S400) that still PWNs my friends' 2005 model cameras. There have been scenarios where several people took pictures and only mine came out.Canon, Canon, Canon.some pics
patrick
you're right.... like i said canon has the most advanced auto metering/saturation and focus modes. i generally prefer their point & shoots the most also. When it comes to DSLRs however, they are close, very close... and there are so many other factors. but you get more w/ nikon for the same cash, w/ the XT imparticular, all you get is most megapixels. hence my point about the pixels. also to say that the general public beleives the more pixels the better, and this is why all these camera companies are making 8+ mp cameras and charging an arm and a leg for them... when in fact 8mp is nearly ridiculous in a small format ccd like ALL these cams use. Diva made some very good points too PS the new Canon 5D... AWESOME
