Luther White
Ok guys I have had sucess fixing my 1994 850 using all of your advice. So tonight thought it would be like any other time, few busted knuckles, a couple of frustrating moments then bamb, all in place and fixed. Well it kind of happened that way I was changing out the heater coolant hoses because the bottom one sprung a leak. All went together fine until I started putting the short hose in the bottom hole on the firewall. Had some resistance and then I heard a crack sound, looked at it felt inside hole didn't see anything wrong. So I finished putting the hose in both inlet and outlet. Put everything back together and started filling up with antifreeze. Darn a leak!!! coming out the bottom hose. Did I break or crack the heater core in this area. The reason I'm asking is I am really hoping that there is some connectors behind the plate with the two screws that on the firewall. Please some help me and tell me some good news. Thanks,Luther

Guest AlvinL
I'm guessing that you broke the heater core and solution would be to replace it. Heater Core Replacement
Luther White
Yea you are probably right, I guess I was just hoping someone would say something small and simple. I'll let you guys know how the heater core replacement goes. Should I replace anything else while I'm in there? Thanks Alvin
98V70BASEBOY
Speaking only from experience with a 98 V70, what you may have done is cracked the heater hose inlet/outlet block. It is a black plastic housing that accepts the heater hoses and joins them up with the heater tubes that lead to the core, on the interior. It is (should be) a seperate piece that you can replace, but you're still going to have to get under the dash to remove the tubes from the core, in order to get the housing out. Luther White
Update--I replaced the heater hose coupling adapter today thanks to all your help, there was a small hairline crack in the inlet side. It took me about hour or so, it took some patience to get the old adapter out and the new one back in. Working around the gas pedal was difficult but I discovered by disconnecting the linkage gave me some room to work with-- mission accomplished....I HAVE HEAT!!!! I didn't replace the heater core because it looked ok, but now I know what to do when it goes. Anyway, cudos to this web site and all your input.Grateful,Luther
