Guest Volvo Driver
The front seat drink holder, the one that has a cover that slides down over it, will not open! Does anybody know what and how to remove this to get to the closing mechanism so it can be fixed? Thanks.
starfish
I believe you are asking about the one in the console just in front of the storage box release switches. If so. open the storage box lid, pull the release button switch straight up to remove it. With the aid of a flashlight and a long screwdriver, move the object that is blocking the door from opening. Guest Volvo Driver
Thanks. After a few attempts, I was able to lift the plastic item (that has the two release buttons) up and out. However, I did not have anything blocking the door from opening - I have a broken unlatching mechanism. In the well where I pulled out the release buttons there is a spring loaded bar that runs between the two release buttons. At each end the bar snaps into molded plastic to keep it in place. The molded plastic holder had broken on the end near the relevant opening button. I do not think I can create a new plastic holder using glue, given the location nd the need for the bar to rotate. It looks like I will have to replace the entire plastic assembly, and if I don't I suspect the other plastic holder will break and my storage box will be unusable. Do you know what I will need to do to remove that? (I know I will have to remove the parking brake cover, and I have figured that one out). I am not sure how much else will need to be removed. Thanks for your help.
dragon17
Yours did not open. Mine cannot close. I had to get some dried paste and mold it onto the little tooth to keep it in place.
Guest Volvo Driver
You were able to mold dry paste to create the holder for the spring loaded bar? That took some talent - mine is deep in the well. I can think of a few ways to try to build up where the holder used to be - all with low probability of success. However, I am open to suggestions. Thanks.
