Did My First Set Of Kick Pods

hi all,

Today i finished my first set of kickpods ( - carpeting) , i'm happy with the accomplishment but i feel they suck :). they are lower and farther to the back than the other kicks i see (mostly bing's).

the bigest problem i've had was during aiming. how the heck can u aim the speaker and take the measurments while your doing it? to aim them i careated a bafle with a grill drilled in the midle and inserted a laser pointer in the hole. this works great but then i could not measure the peaces of wood i need :).

also i didn't yet fix them. what are the options here? drill the car? behind the kick pod there is this black plastic tunnel that has wires in it. do i drill the floor? is it safe? how do i know nothing passes there? :) alot of questions. any help is greatly apreciated. :)

i'll post pictures tomorow and hope i get comments so i can improve the kicks next time.

thank you all

awesome dude! :) show us some pics... putting spekares towards the back is not bad, infact, its good usuaully interms of sound quality, you have less path difference between the speakres. :) the usual reason why i put them more forwad is taht people ask me not to cover hte deadpedal or other cosmetic reasons.

as for aiming, here is hwat i do. first i get osme backstrap metal straps, one thing you can use is exhuast repair strap commonly available at any autoparts store, you cut a certain lengths of straps, affix one end to the floor mold, the other to the wooden baffle. make sure you use tiny screws, like realy smal that barely catches the wood. now, you can take tis set up into the car, pop the speaker in, and manuvuer the baffle and aim it, the straps will hold it in place pretty good so once you set the angle, you can keep it. now go cut strips of wood and hot glue them in to firmly place hte baffle, and you are good t ogo.

remembe rone thing, aiming spekares is not realy that huge of a deal, espeically in our cars, where the low dash and deep footwell kinda screws up center image anyway. just aim them ruoghly in the same drection and you will be fine...unless of course, you plan to compete in iasca or usac or something hehe
